December 23, 2020 – Holidays / San Mar / YouTube!

We’re finally seeing light at the end of the pandemic tunnel. We’re relieved that vaccines to protect us from COVID-19 are starting to become available. As a doctor at Meritus Hospital in Hagerstown, Dr. Levy received his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine there yesterday. He had no adverse effects. We’re happy that the days are starting to get longer. We’re happy that there’s hope in the horizon, even if we still have to be extremely careful right now.

We’re looking forward to the holidays, with hope in our hearts that you, we, and our loved ones will survive this pandemic without COVID-19 “long-hauler” effects. We hope that next year’s festive holidays that allow us to bring light forward — Christmas, Kwanzaa, the Chinese Lunar Year, Eid Al-Fitr, Diwali, Hanukkah – we’ll be able to celebrate and rejoice together with our loved ones. Whatever you celebrate, we wish you a healthy and joyful holiday.

New on Our YouTube Channel: Stages of Tooth Decay

Stages of Tooth Decay

On our YouTube Channel you can now see the first two of a series of five 5 videos that our dental hygienist Wendy created, to explain what happens to teeth when people don’t brush and floss. Did you ever wonder if tooth decay can be stopped or reversed? Watch the videos to find out!

If you like these videos please share them with your family and friends!

Stages of Tooth Decay-Introduction
Our dental hygienist Wendy describes how cavities develop, providing an overview of the stages of decay that will be described in detail in the next four videos. Warning: Only watch this video series if you want to avoid cavities, and keep your teeth.

Stage 1 of Tooth Decay: Demineralization
In the second episode of our series “Stages of Tooth Decay,” Wendy explains why, and how, tooth decay begins. In short, plaque in our teeth contains bacteria that eat sugars and secrete acids. The acids weaken our teeth, a process called demineralization. Behaviors such as smoking, conditions such as acid reflux disease, and our food choices can speed up tooth decay. Fortunately, there are easy ways to prevent decay, or to slow down the process.
