Spring is officially here, and we’re loving the extra sunshine and fresh energy it’s bringing! March has been full of meaningful moments, and we’ve been celebrating some very special people in the office. Dentists’ Day on March 6 gave us a chance to show some love to our amazing doctors, and we marked International Women’s Day on March 8 by recognizing the strong, talented women who help make our practice what it is. And we couldn’t forget Dental Assistants’ Recognition Week—our assistants are absolute rockstars!
We’re also sharing some helpful info this month, like why dental care is especially important during pregnancy (hint: it’s about more than just your teeth), plus how oral health impacts your mental wellbeing.
Finally, if you’re looking for something fresh to try in the kitchen, we’ve included a recipe for a Spring Herb Frittata that’s light, easy, and packed with flavor—perfect for this time of year.
Here’s to fresh starts, bright smiles, and a great season ahead!

Celebrating the Heart of Our Practice: Happy Dentists’ Day!
National Dentist Day is celebrated every March 6th as a time set aside to recognize the dedication, skill, and heart of the people who help keep our smiles healthy and bright. Originally created as a way to say “thank you” to dentists and raise awareness about the importance of oral health, it’s become a chance to spotlight the incredible impact dentists have on our lives, both in and out of the dental chair.
Here at Dr. Harvey Levy & Associates, we’re lucky to work alongside some truly exceptional professionals. Our dentists don’t just fix teeth—they calm fears, explain things in a way that makes sense, and take the time to connect with each patient who walks through our doors. Whether it’s helping a nervous child get through their first appointment or making a complex procedure feel like a breeze, their passion for patient care never goes unnoticed.
And it’s not just us who think so—you’ve told us, too!
One recent Google review said, “Dr. Levy is fantastic! My teenage daughter loved seeing him. She thought he was kind and gentle on her teeth.”
Another patient shared, “I have a fear of dentistry and put off going to the dentist until I absolutely have to! Dr. Patel has always shown me great compassion and patience. He has tolerated me and my issues with kindness to the point that I am happy to go and know that I will be ok. I couldn’t recommend them more!.”
And yet another commented “After [my] cleaning Dr. Hailemelecot came in to do the final check. She has such a calming presence and really takes the time to explain any necessary information to the patient. I will continue to go to this practice for all of my dental procedures!”
Comments like these mean the world to us, because they reflect what our dentists strive for every single day.
Our dentists and entire team bring something special to the practice—deep knowledge, a gentle touch, and a true commitment to treating people, not just teeth. From routine cleanings to emergency care, they lead with compassion and create a space where patients feel heard, respected, and cared for.
So, we want to give a big, heartfelt thank you to our dentists – Dr. Levy, Dr. Patel, and Dr. Hailemelecot. Your hard work, empathy, and dedication inspire us all. We’re grateful for everything you do and we’re proud to celebrate you!
Happy International Women’s Day – Celebrating the Women Who Make Us Shine!
Every year on March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day—a global tradition that began in the early 1900s to honor the achievements of women and promote gender equality. What started as a movement for change has grown into a day of appreciation, recognition, and celebration of the women who uplift our communities every day.
At Dr. Harvey Levy & Associates, we are incredibly proud to recognize the women who help make our practice thrive. From the front desk to the operatory, our female team members bring professionalism, kindness, and a deep dedication to patient care. They are often the first and last faces our patients see—and they leave a lasting impression of warmth, comfort, and confidence.
Whether managing busy schedules, assisting chairside, or supporting patients through every step of their care, these women are the driving force behind the smooth, compassionate experience we strive to deliver. Their leadership, attention to detail, and positivity elevate everything we do.
To all the incredible women on our team: thank you for everything you do. We celebrate you today and every day.
Yes, We’re Bragging Again — Happy Dental Assistants Recognition Week!
Okay, we know—we’ve been doing a lot of celebrating this month. But can you blame us? With so many talented people on our team, we just can’t help ourselves! And now, it’s time to give a big, well-deserved shoutout to our incredible dental assistants!
Dental Assistants week, which was held March 3rd – 9th, has been celebrated nationally since the 1970s, thanks to the American Dental Assistants Association, and it’s all about highlighting the behind-the-scenes (and often right-there-beside-you) heroes of the dental world. If you remember last year’s tribute, you already know how much we appreciate the calm, capable, and caring energy our assistants bring to the office every single day.
They’re the ones setting up treatment rooms before most people have had their coffee, handling instruments safely and with flair, and somehow managing to make patients laugh even during root canals. Their job requires clinical skill, quick thinking, and a whole lot of heart—and they do it all with a smile.
To our assistant team: thank you for being the glue that holds us together (and another reason why our days run smoothly). We appreciate you more than words—or dental jokes—can express.
So yes, we’re bragging again. And we’ll probably do it next year too. Because when you’ve got a team like this, you shout it from the rooftops!
Why Visiting the Dentist During Pregnancy Matters More Than Ever
If you’ve ever wondered whether going to the dentist while pregnant is safe or necessary, a new study in the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) has a clear answer: yes—and it may be more important than you think.
According to this large-scale January 2025 study, which reviewed over 200,000 responses from pregnant women across the U.S., those who received preventive dental care or saw a dentist for dental problems during pregnancy were significantly less likely to experience serious health complications like gestational diabetes and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, including preeclampsia.
Why does this matter? Because conditions like preeclampsia and gestational diabetes don’t just affect your oral health—they can impact your entire pregnancy and your baby’s well-being. Researchers found that women who skipped dental cleanings during pregnancy were 13% more likely to develop gestational diabetes and 8% more likely to develop hypertensive disorders. Even more striking, women who had dental issues but didn’t get them checked out were 28% more likely to experience these complications.
We’ve long supported the idea that oral health is a key part of overall health—and this study backs that up in a big way. We know from experience how beneficial it can be for our pregnant patients to maintain regular visits. In fact, we highlighted this in previous articles, and we’re doubling down now: preventive care during pregnancy isn’t just safe—it’s essential.
If you’re expecting (or planning to be), don’t skip the dentist. Let us be part of your care team to help ensure a healthy pregnancy—for both you and your baby. If you have questions about dental visits during pregnancy we’re always happy to chat!

World Health Day – How Oral Health Impacts Your Mental Well-being
World Oral Health Day is celebrated every year on March 20th, it is a global reminder that taking care of your smile does more than just protect your teeth. This year’s theme says it best: “A happy mouth is a happy mind.”
We know firsthand how much your oral health influences the rest of your well-being. From feeling confident in your smile to avoiding unnecessary pain and health issues, your mouth truly is connected to your body and your mind.
Why Oral Health Matters for Your Mental Well-Being
When your teeth and gums are healthy, everything else feels a little easier. Here’s how taking care of your oral health supports your overall wellness:
- No pain = less stress. Toothaches, infections, and gum disease can interfere with your sleep, focus, and day-to-day comfort. Staying on top of cleanings and daily brushing helps you avoid those issues altogether.
- Confidence starts with your smile. When you feel good about your teeth, you’re more likely to smile, speak up, and connect with others. A confident smile can brighten your mood—and your relationships.
- Social ease. Bad breath or dental discomfort can make anyone feel self-conscious. Good oral health helps you show up and engage in life without hesitation.
- Yes, your brain is involved too. Studies show that poor oral hygiene can allow bacteria into your bloodstream—potentially affecting memory and brain function. Keeping your mouth clean helps protect your cognitive health.
- Smiling really does make you happier. Smiling triggers the release of “feel-good” chemicals in your brain. So the more you smile, the better you feel. And when your teeth are healthy, you’re more likely to show them off.
- Healthy habits start young. Teaching children how to care for their teeth now sets them up for a lifetime of better health and confidence. Plus, fewer cavities = fewer tears (for kids and parents).
Small Habits, Big Impact
On the week of World Oral Health Day, let’s keep things simple. Here’s what you can do to support your smile (and your overall health):
- Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
- Cut back on sugary snacks and drinks
- See your dentist regularly for cleanings and checkups
Your mouth matters. Your smile matters. You matter. Celebrate World Oral Health Day by making oral health a lifelong priority—for you and the ones you love.
Recipe of the Month: Spring Herb Frittata
Source: https://downshiftology.com/recipes/spring-vegetable-frittata/
This spring vegetable frittata is a stunning, one-skillet meal loaded with spring’s finest greens, creamy goat cheese, and fresh herbs. And yes, this can be enjoyed as breakfast-for-dinner.
Ingredients
- 10 large eggs
- ½ cup yogurt, or dairy-free yogurt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 leek, white and light green parts chopped
- ½ pound thin asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup (packed) baby spinach
- salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 ounces goat cheese, or feta/other cheese
- Optional garnish: fresh dill, and parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400F. Heat the oil in a 10-inch oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the leek and saute for 3-4 minutes.
- Then add the asparagus and saute another 1-2 minutes.
- Then add the frozen peas, baby spinach, salt and pepper, and saute another 1-2 minutes, or until the spinach is wilted. Remove 1/3 of the vegetables to a plate (optional, but it makes for a prettier frittata), and make sure the remaining half of vegetables is evenly spread out.
- In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, yogurt, salt and pepper. Pour the eggs over the half of the vegetables in the pan. Cook on the stove for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the remaining vegetables on top, then dollop with the goat cheese. Transfer to the oven and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the eggs are set.
- Garnish with additional herbs before serving.
